Entering into Ihram for Hajj

SUMMARY: The hadith explains the places from which people of different regions should enter into Ihram for Hajj.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah said: "The people of Al-Madinah should enter into Ihram from Dhul-Hulaifah, the people of Ash-sham from Al-Juhfah, the people of Najd from Qarn"'.Abdullah said: "And it was conveyed to me, that the Messenger of Allah said: 'And the people of Yemen should enter into Ihram from Yalamlam'.''
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏"‏ يُهِلُّ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ مِنْ ذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ وَأَهْلُ الشَّامِ مِنَ الْجُحْفَةِ وَأَهْلُ نَجْدٍ مِنْ قَرْنٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَبَلَغَنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏"‏ وَيُهِلُّ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ مِنْ يَلَمْلَمَ

This hadith is about the places from which people of different regions should enter into a state of holiness called ‘Ihram’ when performing the pilgrimage known as ‘Hajj’. According to this hadith, people from Madinah should enter into Ihram from Dhul-Hulaifah, those from Sham should do so from Al-Juhfah and those from Najd should do so from Qarn. It was also conveyed to Abdullah that people of Yemen should enter into Ihram at Yalamlam. This hadith teaches us that it is important to follow certain rules and regulations when performing religious rituals such as Hajj in order to ensure that they are done correctly and with respect.
