Sahih al-Bukhari 1802 (Book 26, Hadith 27) #1725
The Prophet's Love for Medina

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) had a great love for Medina and whenever he returned from a journey, he would make his she-camel or any other animal proceed faster when seeing the walls of Medina.

Narrated Humaid: Anas said, "Whenever Allah's Messenger returned from a journey, he, on seeing the high places of Medina, would make his she-camel proceed faster; and if it were another animal, even then he used to make it proceed faster". Narrated Humaid that the Prophet used to make it proceed faster out of his love for Medina. Narrated Anas: As above, but mentioned "the walls of Medina" instead of "the high places of Medina". Al-Harith bin 'Umar agrees with Anas.

QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect towards your own cities/towns
EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Humaid and Anas tells us about the great love that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had for the city of Medina. Whenever he returned from a journey to this city, he would make his she-camel or any other animal proceed faster out of his love for it. This shows us how much importance and reverence the Prophet ﷺ held towards this city which was also known as Yathrib before it was renamed as Madinat al Nabi or City of the Prophet after him. It is also an example to us on how we should show our respect towards our own cities and towns by taking care of them in whatever way we can.
