The Virtue of Charity

SUMMARY: Giving in charity is a noble act and should not be taken back.

It was narrated from 'Umar that: he gave someone a horse to ride in the cause of Allah, then he saw it offered for sale and wanted to buy it. The Prophet said to him: "Do not think of buying back what you have given in charity".
أَخْبَرَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عُمَرَ، أَنَّهُ حَمَلَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَرَآهَا تُبَاعُ فَأَرَادَ شِرَاءَهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ‏ "‏ لاَ تَعْرِضْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the virtue of charity and generosity. It was narrated from 'Umar that he gave someone a horse to ride in the cause of Allah, then he saw it offered for sale and wanted to buy it. The Prophet said to him “Do not think of buying back what you have given in charity”. This hadith teaches us that giving in charity is a noble act and should not be taken back as it will reduce its reward. It also encourages us to give generously without expecting anything in return, as this will bring more blessings from Allah SWT. Furthermore, this hadith reminds us that we should always strive to do good deeds with sincerity for the sake of Allah SWT alone, without any intention or expectation for worldly gain or recognition from people around us.
