The Intention of Fasting

SUMMARY: Fasting is only valid if one has the intention to fast before dawn.

Something similar was narrated from 'Aishah and Hafsah: "There is no fast except for one who intends to fast before dawn". (Daif)

QUICK LESSONS:
Have an intention before dawn while fasting .
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that fasting is only valid if one has the intention to fast before dawn. It is important to have this intention in order for the fast to be accepted by Allah. This hadith also emphasizes the importance of having an intention when performing any act of worship as it will be accepted by Allah only if it is done with sincerity and a pure heart. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that “actions are judged according to intentions” which means that our intentions should always be pure and sincere when we perform any act of worship or good deed.
