Fasting on Ashura Day

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) asked his companions if they had eaten on the day of Ashura, and instructed them to not eat for the rest of the day. He also sent word to people in Ahl-Al-'Arud to not eat for the rest of the day.

It was narrated that Muhammad bin Saifi said: "The Messenger of Allah said on the day of Ashura: Is there anyone among you who has eaten today?' They said: Some of us are fasting and some of us are not'. He said: 'Do not eat for the rest of the day, and send word to the people of Ahl-Al-'Arud telling them not to eat for the rest of the day"'.

EXPLANATIONS:
On the day of Ashura, Prophet Muhammad asked his companions if they had eaten that day. When some said yes and some said no, he instructed them all to not eat for the rest of that day. He also sent word to people in Ahl-Al-'Arud telling them not to eat either. This hadith teaches us about fasting and how it is important in Islam as a form of worship and obedience towards Allah SWT. It also teaches us about good manners by sending word out so others can benefit from this knowledge too, showing us how we should be kind and considerate towards others even when we are doing something beneficial for ourselves like fasting or praying.
