The Reward for Fasting

SUMMARY: Fasting one day in the cause of Allah will be rewarded with a distance of seventy years between the face and the fire.

It was narrated from Abu Sa'eed that the Prophet said: "Whoever fasts one day in the cause of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, Allah will separate his face from the fire by (a distance of) seventy years".
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ مَنْ صَامَ يَوْمًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بَاعَدَ اللَّهُ وَجْهَهُ مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ سَبْعِينَ عَامًا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the reward for fasting in the cause of Allah. It is narrated by Abu Sa'eed that Prophet Muhammad said that whoever fasts one day in the cause of Allah will be rewarded with a distance of seventy years between his face and fire. This means that if someone fasts for Allah's sake then they will be saved from punishment on judgement day as their faces will be far away from hellfire. This hadith teaches us to always strive to do good deeds and worship Allah as it is only through His mercy that we can attain salvation.
