SUMMARY: It is not recommended to fast outside of the month, except for those who regularly fast.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: "Do not fast ahead of the month, except for a man who habitually fasts, and that day happens to be one of his regular fasts"'.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith from Abu Hurairah teaches us that it is not recommended to fast outside of the month, except for those who regularly fast. The Prophet Muhammad was advising his followers to only fast when it was part of their regular routine and not just because they felt like it or wanted to do extra worship. This hadith also shows us that we should be careful about how we practice our religion and follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad as closely as possible. We should also remember that fasting is a form of worship and should be done with sincerity and devotion in order to reap its rewards.
