Sunan an-Nasai 1821 (Book 21, Hadith 4) #16432
Wishing for Death in Islam

SUMMARY: The hadith is about not wishing for death due to harm, and instead asking Allah to keep us alive as long as life is good and cause us to die when death is good.

It was narrated that Anas said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'None of you should wish for death because of some harm that befalls him. If he must wish for death, let him say: Allahumma ahini ma kanatil-hayatu khairantli wa tawaffani idha kanatil-wafatu khairanli (O Allah, keep me alive so long as life is good for me, and cause me to die when death is good for me)"

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith from Anas ibn Malik teaches us that we should not wish for death due to some harm that befalls us. Instead, we should ask Allah to keep us alive so long as life is good and cause us to die when death is good. This means that we should accept whatever happens in our lives with patience and faith, trusting that Allah knows what's best for us. We must remember that life has its ups and downs, but ultimately it's up to Allah whether or not our lives are extended or shortened. We must also remember the importance of making duaa, which can help bring comfort during difficult times.
