Reciting Verses in Witr Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite certain verses in his witr prayer and then say a phrase three times, raising his voice.

It was narrated from Ibn Abdur-Rahman bin Abza that his father said: "The Messenger of Allah used to recite in witr: Glorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High;' and "Say: O you disbelievers!'; and 'Say: He is Allah, (the) One". And after he had said the salam, he would say: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times, raising his voice with it".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about the importance of reciting certain verses during the witr prayer. The Prophet Muhammad PBUH used to recite "Glorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High;' and "Say: O you disbelievers!'; and 'Say: He is Allah, One". After he finished reciting these verses, he would say "Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus" three times while raising his voice. This shows us that we should be mindful of our words when we are praying and that we should glorify Allah's name with sincerity. We can also learn from this hadith that it is important to be mindful of our words even after we have finished praying as well.
