Seeking Refuge in Allah

SUMMARY: Seeking refuge in Allah from His wrath and punishment, and praising Him for His greatness.

It was narrated from Ali bin Abi Talib that: The Prophet used to say at the end of witr: Allahumma inni audhu bi ridaka min sakhatika wa bi mu'afatika min uqubatika, wa audhu bika minka la uhsi thana'an 'alayka, anta kama athwart ala nafsik ( O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath and in Your forgiveness from Your punishment. And I seek refuge in You from You; I cannot praise You enough; You are as You have praised Yourself)".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about seeking refuge in Allah from His wrath and punishment, as well as praising Him for His greatness. The Prophet Muhammad used to recite a prayer at the end of his witr prayer which included these two elements. In this prayer, he asked Allah to protect him from any harm or suffering that He may cause due to His anger or punishment, and also praised Him for being greater than anything we can imagine. This hadith teaches us that we should always seek refuge in Allah when we are facing difficult times, and also remember to praise Him for all the blessings He has bestowed upon us.
