Praying Witr at Night

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to pray witr at the beginning, middle and end of the night, but towards the end of his life he settled on praying witr at the end of the night.

It was narrated that Aishah said: "The Messenger of Allah prayed witr at the beginning (of the night) and at the end, and in the middle. And toward the end of his life, he settled on performing witr at the end of the night".

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive to perfect your prayers and make them consistent with what was practiced by Prophet Muhammad PBUH .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Aishah tells us that Prophet Muhammad used to pray witr prayer during different times in a night. Witr is an extra prayer that Muslims perform after Isha prayer and before Fajar prayer. It is usually performed as a single unit but can be done in sets of two or three units. During his lifetime, Prophet Muhammad would sometimes pray it at the beginning or middle of the night but eventually settled on praying it towards the end of his life. This teaches us that we should strive to perfect our prayers and make them consistent with what was practiced by our beloved prophet. We should also remember that Allah loves consistency and regularity in our worship so we should try to make sure we are consistent with our prayers every day.
