Praying at Night

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ advised to pray two rak'ahs at night and if dawn is near, one rak'ah of witr should be prayed.

It was narrated from Salim, from his father, that : The Prophet said: "Prayers at night are two by two, then if you fear that dawn will come, pray witr with one rak'ah".
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَدَقَةَ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، عَنِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer during the night. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ advised that two rak’ahs should be prayed during the night and if dawn is near, one rak’ah of witr should be prayed. This hadith emphasizes on the importance of praying in congregation as well as individually. It also teaches us to take advantage of our time and not waste it by sleeping or doing something else instead of praying. Furthermore, it encourages us to stay up late in order to pray and seek Allah's blessings.

The Prophet ﷺ also taught us that we must always strive for excellence in our prayers by making sure we are focused on what we are saying and doing while praying so that our prayers can be accepted by Allah SWT. Additionally, this hadith reminds us that prayer is an important part of a Muslim's life and it should not be neglected or taken lightly as it has many benefits both spiritually and physically for those who practice it regularly with sincerity.
