Sahih al-Bukhari 1681 (Book 25, Hadith 161) #1612
Seeking Permission from Allah's Messenger

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of seeking permission from Allah's Messenger before taking any action.

Narrated 'Aisha: We got down at Al-Muzdalifa and Sauda asked the permission of the Prophet to leave (early) before the rush of the people. She was a slow woman and he gave her permission, so she departed (from Al- Muzdalifa) before the rush of the people. We kept on staying at Al-Muzdalifa till dawn, and set out with the Prophet but (I suffered so much that) I wished I had taken the permission of Allah's Messenger as Sauda had done, and that would have been dearer to me than any other happiness.

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek permission from those in authority before taking any action .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of seeking permission from Allah's Messenger before taking any action. It was narrated by 'Aisha who was travelling with the Prophet and his companions to Al-Muzdalifa for a religious ritual. Sauda asked for permission to leave early due to her slow pace and the Prophet granted her request. However, 'Aisha wished she had done the same as she suffered a lot during their journey due to her slow pace as well. This hadith teaches us that we should always seek permission from our elders or those in authority before taking any action so that we can be sure that it is allowed and will not cause us harm in any way.
