Sunan an-Nasai 1503 (Book 16, Hadith 45) #16114
Remembering Allah in Times of Signs

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of remembering Allah and seeking His forgiveness when witnessing signs from Him.

It was narrated that Abu Musa said: "There was an eclipse of the sun, and the Messenger of Allah got up in a rush, fearing that it might be the Hour. He went to the masjid, where he stood and prayed, standing, bowing and prostrating for the longest time that I ever saw him do in prayer. Then he said: 'These signs that Allah (SWT) sends do not occur for the death or birth of anyone, but Allah (SWT) sends them to strike fear into His slaves. If you see any of these things, then hasten to remember Him, call upon Him supplicate and ask for His forgiveness'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of remembering Allah and seeking His forgiveness when witnessing signs from Him. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was so moved by an eclipse that he rushed to the masjid to pray for a long time. He then explained that these signs are sent by Allah as a reminder for us to remember Him and ask for His forgiveness. We should take this opportunity to reflect on our actions and repent sincerely for any wrongdoings we have committed. It is important that we remember Allah in times of joy as well as times of difficulty or fear because He is always with us no matter what situation we find ourselves in. We should also be mindful not to become too overwhelmed with fear or anxiety during these moments but instead use them as an opportunity to turn back towards our Creator and seek refuge in Him through prayer and supplication.
