Sunan an-Nasai 1504 (Book 17, Hadith 1) #16115
The Power of Prayer

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) praying to Allah (SWT) for rain and it being granted.

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: "A man came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the livestock have died and the routes have been cut off; pray to Allah (SWT), the Mighty and Sublime'. So the Messenger of Allah prayed to Allah (SWT) and it rained from that Friday until the next. Then a man came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'The houses have been destroyed, the routes have been cut off and the livestock have died'. He said: 'O Allah, on the tops of the mountains and hills, in the bottom of the valleys and where the trees grow'. So (the rain) was lifted from Al-Madinah like a garment being removed".

QUICK LESSONS:
Turn to Allah with sincere hearts when you are in need .
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the power of prayer and supplication. It tells us that when we are in need, we should turn to Allah with faith and trust that He will answer our prayers. In this particular case, a man came to the Prophet Muhammad asking him to pray for rain as their livestock were dying due to lack of water. The Prophet prayed for rain and it rained from Friday until Saturday, enough so that even houses were destroyed by the flooding waters. This shows us how powerful prayer can be when done with faith and sincerity, as Allah answered the Prophet's prayer immediately. We should always remember that no matter what our situation is, if we turn to Allah with sincere hearts He will answer our prayers in His own way and time.
