Sunan an-Nasai 1216 (Book 13, Hadith 38) #15824
The Limitless Mercy of Allah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught a Bedouin that Allah's mercy is vast and limitless, and should not be limited to only him and the Bedouin.

It was narrated from Abu Salamah that : Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah stood up to pray and we stood up with him. A Bedouin said- while he was praying- 'O Allah, have mercy on me and Muhammad and do not have mercy on anyone else'. When the Messenger of Allah said the Salam, he said to the Bedouin: 'You have limited something vast," meaning the mercy of Allah (SWT)".

QUICK LESSONS:
Ask for God’s mercy on everyone ; Have faith in God’s limitless love & compassion ; Show compassion towards all of creation .

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was teaching a Bedouin about the mercy of Allah. He was praying when the Bedouin asked for mercy for himself and the Prophet, but not anyone else. After he finished his prayer, he told him that he had limited something vast - meaning that Allah's mercy is so great it cannot be contained or limited to just two people. This teaches us that we should never limit our faith in God's mercy - it is vast and limitless, available to all who seek it out with sincerity. We must also remember to ask for His mercy on everyone - not just ourselves or those close to us - as He has enough love and compassion for all of His creation.
