Moving Away From Qiblah During Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was offering a voluntary prayer when 'Aishah knocked on the door. He moved away from the direction of the Qiblah to open the door and then returned to his place of prayer.

It was narrated that 'Aishah, may Allah (SWT) be pleased with her, said: "I knocked at the door when the Messenger of Allah was offering a voluntary prayer. The door was in the direction of the Qiblah so he took a few steps to his right or left and opened the door, then he went back to where he was praying".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect for others' prayers; Mindfulness in one's own prayers; Politeness in dealing with unexpected situations during worshiping God Almighty .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights an important lesson about prayer and its etiquette. It is narrated that 'Aishah knocked on the door while Prophet Muhammad was offering a voluntary prayer in which he faced towards the Qibla or direction of Mecca. Instead of stopping his prayer or turning away from it, he took a few steps to his right or left and opened the door before returning back to where he was praying. This shows us that we should not disrupt our prayers even if something unexpected happens during them as long as it does not involve any sinning or wrong-doing. We should also be mindful of our surroundings when praying so that we do not cause any disruption for others who are also praying nearby us.
