Raising Hands in Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ raised his hands when he started to pray, until his thumbs were almost level with his earlobes.

It was narrated from Abdul-Jabbar bin Wa'il, from his father, that: He saw the Prophet , when he started to pray, raise his hands until his thumbs were almost level with his earlobes.
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا فِطْرُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلاَةَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى تَكَادَ إِبْهَامَاهُ تُحَاذِي شَحْمَةَ أُذُنَيْهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the importance of raising our hands when we start to pray. It is narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) would raise his hands until they were almost level with his earlobes. This shows us that it is important to raise our hands high enough so that we can show our dedication and sincerity in prayer. We should also remember to keep our palms open and facing upwards as a sign of humility and submission before Allah. By doing this, we are showing Allah that we are devoted to Him and His teachings.

In addition, this hadith also teaches us about the importance of following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in all aspects of life, including prayer. We should strive to emulate him in all aspects so that we can be closer to Allah and gain His blessings in this life and hereafter.
