The Importance of Offering Prayer on Time

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of offering prayer on time and not to miss it.

It was narrated that Abu Aliyah Al-Barra said: "Ziyad delayed the prayer, then Ibn Samit came to me and I gave him a chair and he sat on it. I told him what Ziyad had done and he bit his lip (in disapproval), and he struck me on the thigh and said: 'I asked Abu Dharr the same question you asked me, and he struck me on the thigh as I struck you on the thigh and said: I asked the Messenger of Allah the same question as you have asked me and he struck me on the thigh as I have struck you on the thigh and said: Offer the prayer on time, and if you catch up with them, then pray with them, and do not say: 'I have already prayed so I will not pray(now)"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Offer your prayers at their designated times without any delay or excuses

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of offering prayer on time. It was narrated by Abu Aliyah Al-Barra that Ziyad delayed his prayer and Ibn Samit came to him and he told him what Ziyad did. Ibn Samit showed disapproval by biting his lip and striking Abu Aliyah's thigh as a sign of disapproval. He then told him that he asked the same question to Abu Dharr who also struck him in disapproval and said that he asked the same question to Prophet Muhammad who also struck him in disapproval and said "Offer the prayer on time, and if you catch up with them, then pray with them, and do not say 'I have already prayed so I will not pray(now)". This hadith teaches us that we should offer our prayers at their designated times without any delay or excuses. We should never miss our prayers even if we have already offered one before as it is an important part of our faith.
