Proper Etiquette During Prayer

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the proper way of praying and how men and women should behave during prayer.

It was narrated that Sahl bin Sa'd said: "Some men used to pray with Messenger of Allah tying their lower garments tight like children, it was said to the women: 'Do not raise your heads until the men have sat up completely'."
أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ كَانَ رِجَالٌ يُصَلُّونَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ عَاقِدِينَ أُزْرَهُمْ كَهَيْئَةِ الصِّبْيَانِ فَقِيلَ لِلنِّسَاءِ لاَ تَرْفَعْنَ رُءُوسَكُنَّ حَتَّى يَسْتَوِيَ الرِّجَالُ جُلُوسًا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of proper etiquette during prayer. It is narrated that Sahl bin Sa'd said that some men used to pray with the Messenger of Allah tying their lower garments tight like children. It was also said to the women not to raise their heads until the men have sat up completely. This shows us that there are certain rules and regulations when it comes to praying in a congregation, which must be followed in order for it to be accepted by Allah. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us about modesty and respect for one another while in prayer as well as emphasizing on gender roles within a congregation setting.
