This hadith emphasizes the importance of having a barrier between oneself and any distractions while praying. It was narrated by Abu Dharr that the Messenger of Allah said that if one stands to pray, then they should have something as high as the back of a camel saddle in front of them to act as a screen. If this is not present, then their prayer will be nullified by anything from a woman, donkey or black dog passing in front. When asked what was different about a black dog compared to other colors, it was said that it was because it is considered to be an evil spirit or shaitan.
