QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful of your state before you pray; Respect religious practices; Maintain purity when praying; Avoid having dogs around while praying .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses the invalidation of prayer. It was narrated that Qatadah said to Jabir bin Zaid that he asked what invalidates prayer. Jabir replied that Ibn Abbas used to say that a menstruating woman and a dog invalidate prayer. One of the narrators Yahya said Shubah reported it as a marfu report which means it was attributed directly to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ without any intermediaries in between them. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of our state when we are about to pray as certain things can make our supplications void or not accepted by Allah SWT such as being in an impure state due to menstruation or having dogs around us while praying.
