Revelation and Facing Ka'bah

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the revelation that came to the Messenger of Allah and how people were commanded to face Ka'bah instead of Ash-Sham.

It was narrated that Ibn Umar said: "While the people were in Quba praying Subh prayer, someone came to them and said that revelation had come to Messenger of Allah the night before, and he had been commanded to face Ka'bah. So face toward it. They had been facing toward Ash-Sham, so they turned to face toward Ka'bah".
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ بَيْنَمَا النَّاسُ بِقُبَاءٍ فِي صَلاَةِ الصُّبْحِ جَاءَهُمْ آتٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ اللَّيْلَةَ قُرْآنٌ وَقَدْ أُمِرَ أَنْ يَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ ‏.‏ فَاسْتَقْبَلُوهَا وَكَانَتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ إِلَى الشَّامِ فَاسْتَدَارُوا إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a revelation that came to the Messenger of Allah. It was narrated by Ibn Umar that while people were in Quba praying Subh prayer, someone came to them and said that a revelation had come to the Messenger of Allah. The revelation was that he was commanded to face towards Ka’bah instead of facing towards Ash-Sham. So they all turned around and faced towards Ka’bah as instructed by the messenger. This hadith teaches us about obedience and following instructions from those who are in authority over us such as our parents or teachers. It also teaches us about respecting religious practices such as prayer which should be done with sincerity and devotion towards God Almighty.
