The Height of Sutra During Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was asked about the Sutra of one who is praying and he replied that it should be something as high as the back of a camel saddle.

It was narrated that Aisha(ra) said: "The messenger of Allah was asked during the campaign of Tabuk about the Sutra of one who is praying. He said: "Something as high as the back of a camel saddle".
أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدُّورِيُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، - رضى الله عنها - قَالَتْ سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ عَنْ سُتْرَةِ الْمُصَلِّي فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ مِثْلُ مُؤْخِرَةِ الرَّحْلِ

During the campaign of Tabuk, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was asked about the height of Sutrah for someone who is praying. He replied that it should be something as high as the back of a camel saddle. This hadith teaches us to maintain proper etiquette while performing our prayers and to ensure that we are not distracted by anything around us during prayer time. It also teaches us to follow instructions given by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). We must strive to make sure our prayers are done in accordance with his teachings so that we can reap its full benefits and blessings.
