Eating and Drinking Until Late at Night

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) advised people to eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktum calls the Adhan at night.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said: "Bilal calls the Adhan during the night, so eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktum calls (the Adhan)"
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ إِنَّ بِلاَلاً يُؤَذِّنُ بِلَيْلٍ فَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّى يُنَادِيَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) is advising people to eat and drink until late at night when Ibn Umm Maktum calls the Adhan for prayer time. This hadith teaches us that it is permissible to eat and drink late into the night as long as we are mindful of our obligations towards Allah by not missing our prayers or delaying them too much. It also encourages us to be mindful of our health by not overindulging in food or drinks during late hours of the night which can lead to health problems such as obesity or diabetes if done excessively. Additionally, it reminds us that we should always be aware of our religious duties so that we do not miss out on any important religious obligations like prayer times which are essential for a Muslim's spiritual growth and development in life.
