The Two Rak'ahs of Prayer Before Sunset

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the two Rak'ahs of prayer that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to pray before sunset.

'Imran bin Hudair said: "I asked Lahiq about the two Rak'ahs before sunset. He said: "Abdullah bin Az-Zubair used to pray them, and Mu'awiyah sent word to him asking: 'What are these two Rak'ahs at sunset?' He had to refer to Umm Salamah, and Umm Salamah said: 'The Messenger of Allah used to pray two Rak'ahs before 'Asr, then he was distracted and did not pray them, so he prayed them when the sun set, and I never saw him pray them before or after that'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the two rak’ahs of prayer that Prophet Muhammad used to pray before sunset. It was narrated by Imran bin Hudair who asked Lahiq about these two rak’ahs and he said that Abdullah bin Az-Zubair used to pray them. Mu’awiyah sent word to him asking what these two rak’ahs were at sunset, so he referred him to Umm Salamah who said that the Messenger of Allah used to pray them before ‘Asr but then got distracted and prayed them when the sun set instead. This hadith teaches us how important it is for us as Muslims to be consistent in our prayers and not miss any part of it or delay it unnecessarily. We should also take care not to get distracted from our prayers by other things in life, as this could lead us astray from fulfilling our religious obligations properly.
