Sunan an-Nasai 356 (Book 3, Hadith 8) #14962
Understanding Menstruation and Praying

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that a woman should not assume that any bleeding she experiences is menstruation, but rather it could be a kick in the womb. She should work out the length of her menses and stop praying for that period of time, then perform Ghusl for every prayer.

"That is not menstruation, rather it is a kick in the womb, so let her work out the length of the menses that she used to have, and stop praying (for that period of time), then after that let her perform Ghusl for every for every prayer".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains to women how to understand if they are experiencing menstruation or not. If they experience bleeding, it may not necessarily be their menstrual cycle but rather just a kick in the womb. In order to determine if it is their menstrual cycle or not, they should work out the length of their menses and stop praying for that period of time. After this period has passed, they must perform Ghusl before each prayer as usual. This hadith teaches us about understanding our bodies and being mindful when we pray so we can ensure our prayers are accepted by Allah SWT.
