Sahih Muslim 3019a (Book 56, Hadith 11) #14590
Taking Reasonable Amounts from Orphan's Property

SUMMARY: Allah has given permission to the custodian of an orphan's property to take a reasonable amount from it if he is poor.

Hisham reported on the authority of his father that 'A'isha said in connection with His (Allah's) words: " And whoever is poor let him take reasonably (out of it)" that it was revealed in connection with the custodian of the property of an orphan, who is in charge of her and looks after her; In case he is poor, he is allowed to eat out of that.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of taking care of orphans and their property. It is narrated by Hisham on the authority of his father that 'A'isha said in connection with Allah's words "And whoever is poor let him take reasonably out of it" that it was revealed in connection with the custodian of an orphan's property who looks after her and takes care of her. If this custodian is poor, then he can take a reasonable amount from this orphan’s property for himself as long as he does not exceed what is necessary for his needs. This hadith teaches us to be kind and generous towards those who are less fortunate than us and also reminds us to be responsible when taking care or managing someone else’s wealth or possessions.
