Performing Hajj with Simplicity

SUMMARY: Anas, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), performed Hajj on a packsaddle and was not a miser. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) also performed Hajj on the same mount carrying his baggage.

Narrated Thumama bin 'Abdullah bin Anas: Anas performed the Hajj on a packsaddle and he was not a miser. Anas said, "Allah's Messenger performed Hajj on a packsaddle and the same Mount was carrying his baggage too".

QUICK LESSONS:
Perform religious duties with humility and simplicity without being extravagant or wasteful in any way

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of simplicity in performing religious duties such as Hajj. It is narrated by Thumama bin 'Abdullah bin Anas that Anas, one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), performed his pilgrimage on a packsaddle and he was not considered to be a miserly person. Furthermore, it is mentioned that even Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) himself had done so too. This teaches us that we should perform our religious duties with simplicity and humility without being extravagant or wasteful in any way. We should remember that Allah does not look at our wealth or possessions but rather at our hearts and intentions when we are performing any act of worship for Him.
