EXPLANATIONS:
During the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, Muslims used to give a certain amount of food as charity known as Sadaqat ul Fitr. This charity was usually given in the form of barley, raisins, cottage cheese or dates. It was a way for Muslims to help those who were less fortunate and provide them with sustenance during Ramadan and Eid al Fitr. This hadith serves as an example for us today to continue this tradition and give charity whenever we can. We should remember that it is not only about giving money but also providing people with food and other necessities that they may need.
