Sahih Muslim 2780a (Book 51, Hadith 15) #14102
The Hill of Murar and Forgiveness

SUMMARY: This hadith tells us that those who climb the hill of Murar will have their sins forgiven, except for the owner of a red camel who was too busy looking for something he lost to join them.

Jabir b. Abdullah reported that Allah's Messenger said: He who climbed this hill, the hill of Murar, his sins would be obliterated as were obliterated the sins of Bani Isra'il. So the first to take their horses were the people of Banu Khazraj. Then there was a ceaseless flow of persons and Allah's Messenger said to them: All of you are those who have been pardoned except the owner of a red camel. We came to him and said to him: You also come on, so that Allah's Messenger may seek forgiveness for you. But he said: By Allah, so far as I am concerned, the finding of something lost is dearer to me than seeking of forgiveness for me by your companion (the Holy Prophet), and he remained busy in finding out his lost thing.

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek forgiveness from God Almighty; Prioritize your spiritual wellbeing over material things; Never give up hope on God’s mercy & grace; Climb Murar Hill

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about a special hill called Murar which is located in Medina. It is said that if someone climbs this hill then all their sins will be forgiven just like how the sins of Bani Isra'il were forgiven in the past. A group of people from Banu Khazraj were the first to take their horses and go up this hill but there was one man with a red camel who did not join them because he was too busy looking for something he lost. When they asked him to come along so that Allah's Messenger could seek forgiveness for him, he refused because finding his lost thing was more important to him than seeking forgiveness from Allah's Messenger.

This hadith teaches us about the importance of seeking forgiveness from Allah and how it can help us cleanse our souls from sin and wrongdoing. It also shows us that we should prioritize our spiritual wellbeing over material things as nothing is more important than having a pure heart before God Almighty. Finally, it reminds us that even if we make mistakes or do wrong things in life, we should never give up hope as Allah always provides ways for His servants to repent and be forgiven if they sincerely seek His mercy and grace.
