Sahih al-Bukhari 1445 (Book 24, Hadith 48) #1387
The Importance of Charity

SUMMARY: Every Muslim should give in charity, even if they have nothing to give, they should work and benefit themselves and help those who need it.

Narrated Abu Burda: from his father from his grandfather that the Prophet said, "Every Muslim has to give in charity". The people asked, "O Allah's Prophet! If someone has nothing to give, what will he do?" He said, "He should work with his hands and benefit himself and also give in charity (from what he earns)". The people further asked, "If he cannot find even that?" He replied, "He should help the needy who appeal for help". Then the people asked, "If he cannot do that?" He replied, "Then he should perform good deeds and keep away from evil deeds and this will be regarded as charitable deeds".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of charity for Muslims. It teaches us that we should always strive to give in charity, even if we don't have much money or resources. Even if we can't donate money or goods, we can still help those who are in need by working hard and benefiting ourselves so that we can then donate what we earn. We should also perform good deeds and stay away from evil deeds as this will be considered a form of charity too.
