The Joy of Being Mentioned by Allah

SUMMARY: Allah commanded the Prophet Muhammad to recite the Quran to Ubayy, who was overjoyed when he heard that Allah had mentioned his name.

Anas b. Malik reported that Allah's Messenger said to Ubayy: Verily Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, has commanded me to recite the Qur'an to you, whereupon he said: (Has) Allah mentioned my name to you? He said: Allah has mentioned your name to me. Thereupon he began to shed tears (of joy)
حَدَّثَنَا هَدَّابُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ لأُبَىٍّ ‏"‏ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَقْرَأَ عَلَيْكَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ آللَّهُ سَمَّانِي لَكَ قَالَ ‏"‏ اللَّهُ سَمَّاكَ لِي ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ أُبَىٌّ يَبْكِي

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the joy that comes from being mentioned by Allah. It is narrated by Anas b. Malik, who reported that the Prophet Muhammad was commanded by Allah to recite the Quran to Ubayy. When Ubayy heard this, he asked if his name had been mentioned and upon hearing it had been, he began to shed tears of joy. This shows us how much happiness and contentment one can feel when they are acknowledged and appreciated by their Creator. It also serves as a reminder for us all to be grateful for any blessings we receive from Him and strive towards pleasing Him in our daily lives so we too can experience such joyous moments in our lives.
