EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about four people who were responsible for collecting the Qur'an during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad. These four people were from a group called Ansar, which was a group of Muslims that helped and supported Prophet Muhammad in Medina when he migrated there from Mecca. The four people mentioned in this hadith are Ubayy b. Ka'b, Mu'adh b. Jabal, Zaid b. Thabit and Abu Zaid whose Kunya was Abu Zaid. A Kunya is an Arabic name given to someone based on their first-born child or other family members as a sign of respect or endearment in Arab culture. This hadith shows us how important it was to collect and preserve the words of Allah that were revealed to Prophet Muhammad through Angel Jibril so that they could be passed down through generations for all Muslims to learn from them and benefit from them spiritually, morally, ethically, etc..
