Respect your elders and those in authority; Choose successors carefully; Continue legacies after death.

The hadith reported by Ibn Abu Mulaika is about succession of the Prophet Muhammad. It is narrated that when Aisha was asked who the prophet would have chosen as his successor if he had to nominate one, she said it would be Abu Bakr first, then Umar and finally Abu Ubaida al-Jarrah. This shows us that succession should be done in an orderly manner with due consideration given to those most qualified for the role. It also teaches us that we should respect our elders and those in authority over us. Furthermore, it highlights how important it is for a leader to choose their successors carefully so that they can continue their legacy after they are gone.
