The Beloved People of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was asked who the most beloved people to him were, and he listed Aisha, her father, and Umar.

'Amr b. al-'As reported that Allah's Messenger sent him in command of the army dispatched to Dhat-as-Salasil. When 'Amr b. al-'As came back to the Prophet he said: Who amongst people are dearest to you? He said: A'isha. He then said: Who amongst men? He said: Her father, and I said: And who next? He said: Umar. He then enumerated some other men.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ بَعَثَهُ عَلَى جَيْشِ ذَاتِ السَّلاَسِلِ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ أَىُّ النَّاسِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ قَالَ ‏"‏ عَائِشَةُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قُلْتُ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ قَالَ ‏"‏ أَبُوهَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَنْ قَالَ ‏"‏ عُمَرُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَعَدَّ رِجَالاً

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the beloved people of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. When Amr ibn al-'As returned from a mission, he asked the Prophet ﷺ who were his most beloved people. He answered that his wife Aisha was dearest to him followed by her father and then Umar ibn Khattab. This hadith teaches us that we should love those whom Allah's Messenger ﷺ loves and respect them as well as their families for their loyalty to Islam. We should also strive to be like them in our faithfulness towards Allah SWT and His Messenger ﷺ so that we can be among those whom He loves too!
