Sahih al-Bukhari 1314 (Book 23, Hadith 71) #1263
Funerals of the Righteous and Unrighteous

SUMMARY: The hadith explains that when a funeral is ready and the men carry it on their shoulders, the deceased will either be presented quickly if they were righteous or woe to them if they were not.

Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri: Allah's Messenger said, When the funeral is ready and the men carry it on their shoulders, if the deceased was righteous it will say, 'Present me (hurriedly),' and if he was not righteous, it will say, 'Woe to it (me)! Where are they taking it (me)?' Its voice is heard by everything except man and if he heard it he would fall unconscious".

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for righteousness in life

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about funerals and how it can be determined whether someone was righteous or unrighteous. When a funeral is ready, the deceased will either be presented quickly if they were righteous or woe to them if they were not. This is because everything except man can hear the voice of the deceased, which would cause him to fall unconscious should he hear it. This hadith teaches us that we should strive for righteousness in our lives so that we may receive a good reception in death. It also serves as a reminder of how important it is to lead an upright life as our actions have consequences even after death.
