The Forbidden Left Hand

SUMMARY: Eating with the left hand is discouraged as it is associated with Satan.

Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported Allah's Messenger having said: Do not eat with your left hand, for the Satan eats with his left hand.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ لاَ تَأْكُلُوا بِالشِّمَالِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِالشِّمَالِ

This hadith, narrated by Jabir b. 'Abdullah, warns against eating with the left hand. It states that doing so is associated with the devil and should be avoided. We should strive to do good deeds and follow the teachings of Allah in order to stay on the right path.
