A Lesson from Jabir b. Abdullah

SUMMARY: The hadith is narrated by Jabir b. Abdullah and teaches us a lesson.

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Jabir b. Abdullah through the same chain of transmitters but with a slight variation of wording.
وَحَدَّثَنِيهِ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، يَقُولُ إِنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ يَقُولُ ‏.‏ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ أَبِي عَاصِمٍ إِلاَّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏ "‏ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَذْكُرِ اسْمَ اللَّهِ عِنْدَ طَعَامِهِ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَذْكُرِ اسْمَ اللَّهِ عِنْدَ دُخُولِهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Jabir b. Abdullah through the same chain of transmitters but with a slight variation of wording. It is believed that this hadith was passed down to teach us an important lesson about life and how we should conduct ourselves in it. The lesson taught in this hadith is that we should always strive to be better people and live our lives according to the teachings of Islam so that we can be rewarded in the afterlife for our good deeds here on earth. We should also remember that Allah knows all things and will judge us accordingly for our actions both good and bad so it is important to always strive to do what is right even when no one else may know or see what we are doing as Allah will still reward us for it if it was done with sincerity and faithfulness towards Him alone.
