Sahih al-Bukhari 1266 (Book 23, Hadith 27) #1219
The Resurrection of a Hajji

SUMMARY: A man died while performing Hajj with the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Prophet instructed to wash him with water and Sidr, shroud him in two pieces of cloth without perfume or covering his head as Allah will resurrect him on the Day of Resurrection.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: While a man was at 'Arafat (for Hajj) with Allah's Messenger the fell down from his Mount and broke his neck (and died). So Allah's Messenger said, "Wash him with water and Sidr and shroud him in two pieces of cloth and neither perfume him nor cover his head, for Allah will resurrect him on the Day of Resurrection and he will be saying Labbaik".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a man who was performing Hajj with the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Unfortunately he fell off his mount and broke his neck. The Prophet instructed to wash him with water and Sidr then shroud him in two pieces of cloth without perfume or covering his head. This is because Allah will resurrect this man on the Day of Judgment when he will be saying Labbaik. This hadith teaches us that death is not an end but rather a transition from one life to another; it also teaches us that we should treat our dead respectfully as they are still alive in spirit. Furthermore, it reminds us that we should always have faith in Allah's power over life and death; He can bring back anyone He wills at any time He wishes.
