Sahih Muslim 1849b (Book 33, Hadith 88) #11898
Obedience to Leaders

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of obedience to one's leader and the consequences of not doing so.

It has been narrated (through a different chain of transmitters) on the authority of Ibn Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: One who dislikes a thing done by his Amir should be patient over it, for anyone from the people who withdraws (his obedience) from the government, even to the extent of a handspan and died in that conditions, would die the death of one belonging to the days of Jahiliyyah.

QUICK LESSONS:
Obey your leader even if you don't agree with them; Have patience when your leader makes decisions you don't like; Respect authority figures; Follow Allah's commands.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of obedience to one's leader. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that anyone who withdraws their obedience from their government, even if it is only a handspan, will die as those who lived in ignorance before Islam was revealed. This means that disobedience to leaders has serious consequences and should be avoided at all costs. It also teaches us that we should have patience when our leaders make decisions we don't agree with, as this is part of being obedient and following Allah's commands.
