The Punishment for Unlawful Taking

SUMMARY: Taking something without permission is wrong and will be punished on the Day of Judgement.

Sa'id b. Zaid reported: I heard Allah's Apostle say: He who took a span of earth wrongly would be made to wear around his neck seven earths on the Day of Resurrection.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect others' property, Obey Allah's commands

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that taking something without permission is wrong and will be punished on the Day of Judgement. Allah's Apostle warned us that anyone who takes a span of earth wrongly would have to wear seven earths around their neck as punishment. This means that we should not take anything from anyone without their permission or consent because it is considered stealing and it is a sin in Islam. We should also respect other people's property and belongings so that we can avoid this punishment in the hereafter.
