Forbidden Earnings

SUMMARY: Allah's Messenger forbade the charging of price for certain items.

Aba Mas'ud al-Ansari (Allah be pleased with him) reported that Allah's Messenger forbade the charging of price of the dog, and earnings of a prostitute and sweets offered to a kahin.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ، عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَهَى عَنْ ثَمَنِ الْكَلْبِ وَمَهْرِ الْبَغِيِّ وَحُلْوَانِ الْكَاهِنِ

This hadith is about what is forbidden to earn money from. According to this hadith narrated by Aba Mas'ud al-Ansari, Allah's Messenger forbade the charging of price for a dog, earnings of a prostitute and sweets offered to a kahin. This means that it is not permissible to make money from these activities or items. It teaches us that we should not be involved in any activity which goes against Islamic teachings and values in order to make money.
