Sahih Muslim 1413b (Book 16, Hadith 62) #10597
The Values of Fairness and Equality in Transactions

SUMMARY: Do not outbid in a sale to ensnare, do not enter into a transaction that your brother has already entered, do not make a proposal of marriage that your brother has already made and do not ask for the divorce of another woman to deprive her.

Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger as having said this: Do not outbid in a sale in order to ensnare. No man should enter into a transaction in which his brother has already entered, and no dweller of the town should sell on behalf of the villager. And no man should make a proposal of marriage which his brother has already made and no woman should ask for the divorce of another (co-wife) in order to deprive her of what belongs to her.

QUICK LESSONS:
Do not outbid someone else in order to ensnare them or take advantage over them; Enter into a transaction only after ensuring that none of your brothers have entered; Make proposals only after ensuring that none of your brothers have made such proposals; Respect other women's rights by refraining from asking for their divorces just so you can deprive them from their rights .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the values of fairness and equality when it comes to transactions. It is narrated by Abu Huraira who was one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He said that we should never outbid someone else in order to ensnare them or take advantage over them. We should also never enter into a transaction if our brother has already entered it, nor make proposals for marriage if our brother has already done so, nor ask for the divorce of another woman in order to deprive her from what she deserves. These teachings are important as they promote fairness and equality between people when it comes to transactions or any other matters related to life. They remind us that we should always be fair with each other no matter what situation we are facing or how much money is involved in it because Allah loves those who are just and fair with others even if they have less money than others.
