Purifying Oneself

SUMMARY: This hadith talks about the importance of removing impurities from oneself.

This hadith has been narrated by Yabya b. Sa'id with the same chain of transmitters (and the words are): " Just as a furnace removes impurity," but no mention is made of iron.

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for excellence and purity in thoughts, words & actions
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of purifying oneself and improving one's character. It is similar to a furnace that removes impurity from iron, in that it is necessary for us to remove any negative traits or habits from ourselves in order to become better people. We must strive for excellence and purity in our thoughts, words, and actions so that we can be closer to Allah SWT. The Prophet Muhammad SAW said “Verily Allah does not look at your bodies nor your faces but He looks at your hearts” (Sahih Muslim). Therefore, it is important for us to focus on our inner selves and work on improving our character so that we can be pleasing in the sight of Allah SWT.
