Changing Ihram for Hajj and Umra

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) commanded his companions to change their Ihram for Hajj to that of Umra, except those who had brought sacrificial animals with them.

Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with them) reported that Allah's Messenger observed the morning prayer at Dhu Tawa (a valley near Mecca) and arrived (in Mecca) when four days of Dhul-Hijja had passed and he commanded his Companions that they should change their Ihram (of Hajj) to that of Umra, except those who had brought sacrificial animals with them.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's commandment to his companions regarding changing their ihram from that of hajj to umrah, except those who had brought sacrificial animals with them. The ihram is a special state of purity and devotion which Muslims enter into when performing certain rituals such as hajj or umrah. It involves wearing two white sheets and abstaining from certain activities such as cutting one's hair or nails, wearing perfume, hunting animals etc. In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad was instructing his companions on how they should change their ihrams depending on whether they were performing hajj or umrah. Those who were bringing sacrificial animals were exempt from this commandment since they would need to keep their ihrams until after the sacrifice was made. This hadith teaches us about the importance of following religious instructions and being mindful of our actions when we are in a state of purity and devotion before Allah Almighty. It also reminds us that we should always strive to do good deeds even if it means making sacrifices in order to please Allah Almighty.
