Al-Aqsa: Worshippers Attend Eid al-Fitr Prayers

Worshippers attended the Eid al-Fitr prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem on Thursday marking the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan. The Al-Aqsa Mosque is considered the third holiest site in Islam.

Violence has erupted in recent days amid protests in East Jerusalem over possible evictions of Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood.

Clashes that began at the Al-Aqsa compound escalated into an exchange of rockets between the Gaza Strip and Israel on Monday.
