Forces dimming the Light of the Crescent

I Cry for you my Beloved Baghdad, my Muslim capital, for the precious blood that will saturate the Tigris and for all the destroyed civilizing treasures that enlightened the mind of man and filled the libraries of learning.  Another Muslim capital will fall to the conquerors from the West.  Jerusalem, our holy city, we abandoned you; Grozny, Kabul, Srinagar and Sarajevo, we abandoned you; and now Islam's third capital, Baghdad -- We not only abandoned you but we shamefully assisted the conquerors, directly or with complicit silence, to bury you with lies, false promises, and bombs.

I scream in my shame, I cry with no tears, for I have none left to give to the fallen, silent, fearful Community whose very soul and faith have been crucified by the power of men.  -- Where can I hide from God and our Prophet Muhammad my eternal shame, dishonor, hypocrisy, and fear of man and loss of worldly possessions rather than my awarness and worship of the One Lord and Sustainer of all the heavens and earth.   Am I worthy to call myself a Muslim -- one who submits to God -- when in truth I have submitted myself to fearing man and fearing death?

"Regarding the Crusader!  Behold with what obstinacy they fight for their religion; while we, the Muslims, show no enthusiasm for waging holy war."

--SALAHDIN

I alone on Judgment Day must stand and face my shame, my sins, and my cowardice.

Despite 1400 years of history, Muslims have never fully anchored their faith in the divine Islamic lesson that as long as they are strong in their faith, in their worship, in unity, no man or nation can defeat them.  History is replete with defeat of Muslims whenever they abandoned their faith and adopted the greed, selfishness, and pursuit of power and worldly possessions.

Yet, despite such defeats of Muslims at the hands of the "West" -- God has guaranteed that the system of life in which one submits to the will of God will shine its light of salvation, mercy, peace, and hope.

Baghdad, August 1099:

The crusaders had taken the Holy City of Jerusalem on Friday, July 15, 1099, in the year of the Hegira 492 after a forty-day siege.  Two days later, when the killing stopped, not one single Muslim was left alive within the city walls.  The Jews met a similar fate being killed or burned alive.   Abu Sa'ed Al-Harawi was among the fortunate few who managed to escape.  He and his companions traveled under the hot summer sun to reach Baghdad to plead their case to the Caliph All-Mustazhir Billah.

Bursting into the royal court with a loud cry Al-Harawi spoke with tears and passion not only for the murdered Muslims in Jerusalem but for all the abandoned Muslims throughout history left alone to face an overwhelming enemy. His words speak to the Muslims of today enduring occupation, oppression, and death.

He cried to the Caliph, his voice carrying through the ages:

"How dare you slumber in the shade of complacent safety', he began, 'leading lives as frivolous as garden flowers, while your brothers in Syria have no dwelling place save the saddles of camels and the bellies of vultures?  Blood has been spilled!  Young girls have been shamed, and must now hide their sweet faces in their hands!  Shall the valorous Arabs resign themselves to insult, and the valiant Persians accept dishonor?  Never have the Muslims been so humiliated, Never have their lands been so savagely devastated".

The escaping refugees from Jerusalem settled in Damascus carrying nothing with them from the Holy City, except one precious prize:  The Quran of 'Uthman, one of the oldest existing copies of the Holy Book.

True to form and just as applicable to today's Muslim leaders, the Caliph expressed sympathy and formed a Committee of Inquiry from which nothing emerged.

Baghdad, March 2003:

One thousand years later the Arab League met (March 1, 2003 with 9 out of 22 leaders absent) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, to discuss the pending annihilation of Iraq and their decisive action was -- to reject all aggression, to place the responsibility of any Iraqi attack on the Security Council, and consider sending a delegation to the U.S., Europe, and the U.N. to discuss a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

They met for one day, showed their disunity, packed their bags and went home having done their duty in protecting innocent Muslim lives. Naturally, the Arab League waited until Bush's army exceeded 200,000, a point of no return, to meet and proclaim the hollow pathetic words of defiance.  On March 5, the Islamic Organization of Conferences would have met in Qatar, the Muslim nation hosting the U.S. Military Headquarters in charge of attacking Iraq, to predictably issue the same worthless proclamations.

"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator."
 - President-Elect George Bush, CNN News, Aired December 18, 2000
(Hence the United Nations is "Irrelevant", American Unilaterilism, Pulling out of International Treaties, Abrogating the "A.B.M." Nuclear Treaty, and mockery of world opinion)

President Bush, a born again Christian, manipulated and strongly supported by two powerful ideological and religious zealots, Jewish Zionists and Christian Fundamentalists, is determined against all truth, all evidence to the contrary, and the opinion of the world to annihilate Iraq, a nation devastated by two wars and twelve years of sanctions under a secular barbaric  dictatorship.

The British paper, The Observer, in the article: "Two Men Driving Bush Into War" (February 23, 2003) by Ed Vulliamy, strongly supports the contention that Bush's obsession with attacking Iraq is due to the influence of these two groups with Karl Rove, Bush's political advisor, representative of the Christian Fundamentalists, and Paul Wolfowitz, Deputy Secretary of Defense, as the long time Washington Zionist.

"There ought to be limits to freedom."
- Governor George Bush Jr, May 21, 1999
(Hence the use of "secret evidence", U.S. Patriot Act I & II, Guantanemo Bay, Mosque Counting, Ethnic Profiling, Immigration Screening)

Nothing will stop this President from his glorious moment of victory upon Iraq while Muslim nations are paralyzed in fear, greed, and corruption.

"Gov. George W. Bush of Texas talks about contingencies in which he would use American military power to ''take out'' Iraq's illegal weapons" if elected president.
- New York Times, Editorial "Rhetoric and Reality", December 12, 1999

Since the end of Communism and the aftermath of the Persian Gulf war Islam and Iraq became the "evils du jour" for the west.  The primary architect behind America's foreign policy toward Muslim lands has been Israel until "We -- the American Muslims" through our educated, united, concerted, and well funded efforts free America, our nation, from the shackles of Zionism that dominates and manipulates our national foreign policy for its own interests.

"How did our OIL get under their SOIL"!

The 'war cabinet' of Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Woflowitz, Perle, Abrams, Libby, Feith, Wurmser, Haas, and the newly baptized Powell, have long sought two goals in the Middle East.  One goal is the permanent establishment of US military bases in the Persian Gulf to extract cheap oil, destroy OPEC and ensure submissive quiescent governments and populations.  Secondly, was to ensure Israel's security, hegemony, and expansionistic ambitions upon more Arab land.  Thus Israel and its supporters in the Christian Fundamentalist movement, its powerful Zionist lobby, its "think tanks", and its supportive media formulated a policy of regional military bases and domination beginning with Iraq and the Persian Gulf.  These policies have been lobbied for strongly since 1991 by the same "warmongering Likudniks" who now populate Bush's national security team and cabinet.

Since the 1967 Arab-Israeli war Pro-Israel Zionists and Pro-Israel Christian Fundamentalists have had sole possession of almost all important executive and congressional positions dealing with national security, defense, and foreign policy.

In fact, the Director of the U.S. House of Representatives Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, Yosef Bodansky, is an Israeli citizen.   He has churned out many books, reports, and articles since 1993 warning America of the "New Muslim Internationalist" seeking to defeat the Judeo-Christian world.  Despite the resignation and outrage of Congressmen and Congresswomen from his task force, the House is unable to fire him.   He, along with other American Zionist "experts" like Daniel Pipes, Steve Emerson, Judith Miller, Normon Podhoretz, Amost Perlmutter, Morton Zuckerman, Charles Krauthammer, Jeff Jacoby, William Safire and many others, keep the flames of Anti-Islam burning in the mainstream media, with inflammatory titles such as: "The Sword of Islam," "The Islamic Bomb", "The Roots of Muslim Rage," and "Bombs in the Name of Allah."

There is no shame or limit to their defamation of Islam.  Given the naivete of the American people these extremists will "create havoc for their own self-interest."

Project for the New American Century

On June 3, 1997, Zionists and Christian Fundamentalists, signed a "Statement of Principle" establishing the "Project for the New American Century".   Among the signatories of the statement were:  Eliot Abrams, Paul Wolfowitz, Dick Cheney, Jeb Bush, Dan Quayle, Gary Bauer, Lewis Libby, Zalmay Khalilzad (Bush's appointee to the Iraqi Opposition), Steve Forbes, Donald Rumsfeld, William Bennett, and Frank Gaffney (among other prominent Jewish Americans).  Among the three groups funding this enterprise was the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a conservative Pro-Israel think tank where President Bush spoke on his vision for a "democratic post-Iraq Middle East" (February 26, 2003).  Among P.N.A.C.'s stated purpose was:

Hefty increases in defense spending. "We need to increase defense spending significantly if we are to carry out our global responsibilities today and modernize our armed forces for the future".  Such massive defense spending would allow America's military to strategically dominate the world in order "to challenge regimes hostile to our interests and values" and "to accept responsibility for America's unique role in preserving and extending an international order friendly to our security, our prosperity, and our principles."

In September 2000 (a full year before 9/11), the PNAC published the document entitled: "Rebuilding America's Defenses: Strategies, Forces and Resources for a New Century".  The document clearly spells out that Bush and his current "war cabinet" were planning to attack a defenseless Iraq to solidify America's military control of the Persian Gulf whether Saddam was still in power or not.

It states:

"The United States has for decades sought to play a more permanent role in Gulf regional security. While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein -- Even should Saddam pass from the scene," the plan says U.S. military bases in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait will remain, despite domestic opposition in the Gulf states to the permanent stationing of U.S. troops. Iran, it says, "May well prove as large a threat to U.S. interests as Iraq has."

How does the PNAC justify to a skeptical Congress and public the massive increase in defense spending in a Post-Cold War period with no imminent foreign threat to America?  9-11 has given an opportune excuse.

Given that this report was issued prior to Bush's election, it is ironic and tragic that several Muslim organizations called upon Muslims to vote for George Bush for President.

"Our government rests in public opinion. Whoever can change public opinion, can change the government, practically just so much." -- Abraham Lincoln

Advertising, Commercials, and Public Relations are the true battlegrounds for a just and peaceful resolution of the imposed "conflict and misunderstanding" between the United States and the Muslim world.  Only and until Muslims here and abroad understand that our "Clash of Civilizations" is truly a "Clash of Perceptions" will our two worlds live in peace.

Who's to Blame for Muslim defeatism?

Today the defenders of Islam and the civil rights of American Muslims in the United States and Europe are Non-Muslims.   Tragically, the world only sees the activism of Muslim extremists and hijackers of the faith, like Bin Laden, and many misguided Imams who feel that by force and violence alone Islam will achieve victory over its "enemies".  They are reaffirming the western misconception that "Islam was spread by the sword" and seeks world domination.  Islam is most loved and accepted when people are at peace physically and intellectually able to fathom the beauty and genius of the faith.   Before we blame the "others" for Muslim defeatism, we as Muslims must reclaim our faith, our lands, our resources, and above all, reclaim the truth of Islam and of history -- both of which have been deliberately distorted written and reported by western opportunists. As has been said:  "he who controls the news, controls the views."

Israel and America's interests converge in the Middle East is well known and accepted, after all, these two sovereign nations are simply pursuing their national interests, damn the world, especially the Muslim world.

Since the late nineteenth century the Muslim world has lacked the comprehension, cooperation, and unified strategies to oppose or at least limit the design of the imperial powers upon Muslim lands and resources.

"I don't think, therefore, I am civilized."

It's easy to bash "other" Muslims both in and out of the United States for allowing Muslims to die while I bury my head, heart, voice, and wallet in the sand.  What have I done to revitalize myself and my faith, to reach out in true "Jihad" with my body and wealth to protect Muslims, to enjoin for the good and prevent evil?  I am guilty in front of my Creator and Sustainer for keeping uninformed, quiet, fearful, bashful of my color, faith, and accent; avoiding controversy at all cost while enjoying the comfort of my American home, car, good food, and entertainment.

"O, YOU, who have attained to faith!  Shall I point out to you a bargain that will save you from grievous suffering in this world and in the life to come?  You are to believe in God and His Apostle, and to strive hard in God's cause with your possessions and your lives:  this is for your own good--if you but knew it......And, withal, He will grant you yet another thing that you dearly love:  succour from God in this world, and a victory soon to come:  and, thereof, O Prophet, give thou a glad tiding to all who believe."  (61 10-11, 13)

For ease of living I have become a conformist, a digestor of spoon fed media "truths", a practicing Muslim on occasional Fridays and Eids.   Intellectual laziness and a herd mentality now identify me as an "American" Muslim.

Erased from my conscience are the first words of the Quran:  "READ" and "BY THE PEN", the true instruments of civilization and learning.

Forgotten is the Quranic Verse 30.8:  "Have they never learned to think for themselves?"

I see the Muslim world degenerating once again into "Al-Jahiliyah" (ignorance) and "Tribalism".   I see such ignorance of Islamic teachings, history, geography, science, and arts in my own community and mosque.  I also observe how we separate into our "ethnic" groups after prayer, very much like tribes -- the South Asians join to speak in Urdu, the Arabs do the same, the African Americans as well.  It's the same in the Muslim world both within and between countries.  Tribalism defines Muslims and their issues worldwide, not Islam.

The Prophet's famous Hadith says:

"He is not of us who proclaims the cause of tribal partisanship (assabiyyeh); and he is not of us who fights in the cause of tribal partisanship; and he is not of us who dies in the cause of tribal partisanship."   (Abu Da'ud, on the authority of Jubayr ibn Mut'im)

When asked what is the meaning of "assabiyyeh", the Prophet said: "It means helping your own people in an unjust cause."

Even in America, our Muslim organizations are disunited along such lines of ethnicity, political views, Islamic schools, level of activism, and funding from abroad.

While American organizations were calling for massive protests against the Iraqi war, our Muslim organizations did NOT even hold an emergency meeting together, in unity, to develop concrete educational and activist strategies for Muslims to protest the war.  Hundreds of Muslim have been detained, several of our charities were closed (shamefully many lied about their intent to Muslim donors, hurting innocent needy Muslims abroad), many American political, religious and media pundits have attacked our faith, our Prophet, and our Quran, and yet there are only feeble attempts to stand up for justice.

Perhaps other Muslim nations will shortly meet the same fate as Iraq. The champion of Democracy is planning to spend $29 million to democratize the Middle East while spending hundreds of billions of dollars destroying it.

Is it hopeless for us, American Muslims, to change this conspiracy upon Muslim lives and lands?  Are we truly so helpless despite our alleged numbers in the millions?  NOT as long as we are Muslims believing in God and our Holy Prophet .  NOT as long as we possess the Holy Quran and the Prophet's Hadith.  NOT as long as there is one breath in my body will I surrender to the injustices of man toward any man or woman on earth, Muslim or Non-Muslim.

HOPE is the Message from God:

"God made it but a message of HOPE for you, and an assurance to your hearts: there is no help except from Allah. The Exalted, the Wise." - Quran 3:126

"Be not, then, faint of heart, and grieve not:  for you are bound to rise high IF YOU ARE TRULY BELIEVERS." - Quran 3:139

"Say: "O my servants who have transgressed against their souls: Despair not of the Mercy of Allah: for Allah forgives all sins: for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."  - Quran 39:53

REGIME CHANGE begins with ME and YOU.  Take heart my brother and sister.  We've faced difficult times before but with our belief in the justice of our One True Creator and sincere caring for each other as members of a common humanity, God willing, we shall overcome this too.

I don't see the value of this kind of arguement. This is exactly what supporters of the Sangh Parivar and fundamentalist Christians say about Muslims and Islam. They point to Islam's 'bloody borders' to sow enmity and fear of Muslims. We can all sit and cultivate asabiya or we can race in good works. Which is more pleasing to the Creator?

Like every Muslims alive,I feel both numb and sad. But then I remember of my dream when I was thirteen over Shabra and Shatila massace. I thought God had abandoned us. But that night I dreamed I was running through a dark tunnel where there were prostitutes, mutants, bastards in total darkness until I reached the end of the tunnel where I could see the light. When I reached the end of the tunnel what I saw was both magnificent and horrifying. I saw waves of fire that have no ends, roaming fiercely, in dark orange and red colour. In my dream, I knelt down and said, "Dearesr God, if this is how your Day of Judgement looks like in my dream, I cannot imagine what the real of Day of Judgement looks like".I cried like I had never cried before, asking for His forgiveness. Then while I was reading my Quran, I came across the Tafsir of Surah At-Takwir, " Whoever wishes to look at the day of Judgement as if he is seeing it with his own eyes, then let him read, When the sun is wound around, and When the heaven is cleft asunder, and When the heaven is spilt asunder". As the world becomes darker, and human beings become more sinister, know that this world is indeed too old for anything new. Amidst all these chaos, there are glimpses of God's attributes in us. If we look at Bush, Sharon and Rumsfeld's arrogance, can we imagine the arrogance of God? If we hear about the secret plans by them, can we now understand the secret plan of God? In Surah At-Tariq,(85:9,10) "The day when all the secrets will be examined. Then he will have no power, nor any helper". When we talk about CIA, Mossad, NSA,
can we imagine what reports the angels of ratid and Atid say about us?(Surah86:15-17)"Verily, they are but plotting a plot. And I am planning a plan. So, give a respite to the disbelievers; deal gently with them for a while".Surah 31:24 "We let them enjoy for a little while, then in the end We shall oblige them to (enter) a great torment."

Why did Arab nations sit on their rear ends and let Saddam invade Kuwait? Is this only because they too were willing to help a dictator kill and rape a land of fellow Muslims. Is this the way Muslims help each other. The one with the bigger gun gets all the power. When you would not help the women and children of Kuwait American heros laid down their lives to liberate them. Arab cowards hid behind religion and one they don't even follow to save themselves. That only proves how cowardly they really are. Even in Iraq America frees millions of Iraqi people who have for decades been terrorized by Saddam. You on the other hand blame it on a holy war as you always do because you are blinded by your ideology. Why don't you get off your a-- and do something good for your people beside filling their hearts against America because of your own cowardice in the face of this dictator. Come out of your cave and see the light for a while. The nation of Islam is in disarray because of blinded people like you, Saddam and Bin Laden, and Arafat. Even Iraqi Americans agree with the American effort because they know the true heart of the American people not our government. Governments don't always represent the heart of a country. Sometimes the wrong leaders wind up in power as was the case of Bill Clinton. We thank God for President Bush who stands up for people everywhere. Not just Americans but also Iraqis. You can say anything you like but ask the people of Iraq how they feel about freedom now. It's going to take time to get them a stable government but in the years to come they will be a better and more prosperous nation spiritually and financially. There are good people in Iraq just help them and quit griping about something you know nothing about. Lay aside your false beliefs and wake up to reality.

This article by Br Mohamed is absolutely brilliant and took my breath away. It has outlined exactly the state of affairs in the Muslim world - shamefull on the state of our Ummah. The Muslims in Australia are facing similar problems as you have described in America.

However, I would like to report that in Canberra (capital of Australia) we have established an organisation that has crossed the ethnic line, crossed the different sects and mathabs and has successfully united for the cause of Islam. Our membership come from 48 different countries speaking 26 different languages. The 10 executive members come from 6 different countries representing the diverse mix of the membership. Our constitution states that there can not be more than two on the Executive from one ethnic background.

I want to let the Muslims in America and the world know that you can succeed and unite and the key to success is true belief in Allah and his last Prophet. I am a strong advocate of the Greenpeace motto, 'think globally, act locally'. In order for the Muslim Ummah to unite globally we must set an example and unite locally. It will spread like wildfire, Inshallah.

The organisation is called the Canberra Islamic Centre.

Sister Aisha Gayapa (post 12163) and all brothers and sisters

Assalamu-Aleikum

Do not despair, the future belongs to Islam as promise by Allah (SWT) to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW). This does not mean we sit back and do nothing!
Many Muslims in the world blame this or that, but forget to look at themselves to see if there is something they are doing that Allah (SWT) disapproves of? Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him), one of the four scholars of Islamic Jurisprudence, said, that the latter part of this Ummah (this period) will only be corrected by what corrected the former part of the Ummah (the Prophets (SAW) time). Sheik Albany (may Allah have mercy on him), a great 20th century scholar of Hadith, said that these words should be written in golden ink.
What does this mean? During the time of the Khalafah, when Muslim armies were fighting the enemies of Allah (SWT) and would be loosing the battle, at night in the camp the commander would call out the people. He would tell them to examine themselves to see what sins they may be committing and/or which Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW) they may have dropped. He would ask them to sincerely repent to Allah (SWT) for the sin and to re-establish the Sunnah. The Muslim army would defeat the enemy with easy the next day. In these latter times (our time) the majority of Muslims around the world are steeped in ignorance regarding Islam, which has lead to Blasphemy and innovation in the religion, and in some cases practices undistinguishable from the religions, traditions and cultures of the unbelievers. The answer lies in going back to the Quran and the Prophet's (SAW) Sunnah as understood and practiced by the Prophet (SAW), the companions of the Prophet (SAW) and the three righteous generations that came after the Prophet (SAW). Only then will Allah (SWT) bestow his favor and mercy on us again and Muslims will be victorious against the enemies of Allah (SWT) and rule over them, Insha-Allah.

I am overwhelmed at such an exposition given by the author. Indeed the Muslims are degenerating. If we are truly the best religion in the world, then why are we wallowing in misery, oppression and humiliation? Why does Allah seem to be throwing his wrath against us?
I can't find any reason, what I see are disgusting ironies. Guided with the Holy Q'uran and the sunnah of the Prophet peace be upon him, we are supposed to be the best nation as Allah have proclaimed in the Holy Q'uran that He has perfected Islam as our religion.
I am heartbroken and depressed with the events around us. I can only shed buckets of tears with our helplessness and disunity. I cannot understand why some Arab countries made it easier for the US to carry its plan.
I remember an ahadith that Muslims on the last days may be many in numbers but they will be rubbish, and useless like foams in the sea.
Indeed I am one with the author in hoping. Surely, there is a wisdom in all of these. Allah in His infinite greatness knows that which we do not know. I hope what happened in Iraq will unite Muslims all around the globe and give us the opportunity to reflect upon our impotence. May Allah have mercy on us all.

Good article. But wil the Muslims worlwide really awaken ? The whole problem lies with the "regimes" in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. They have the power to stop these outrages against Muslims things happening. I look forward to the day when the "Protectors of the Holy Lands" finally wake up to their responsibility and are afraid of the One and True God, instead of being afraid of people. Once these "regimes" are replaced by governments elected by the people, then only can we see the Muslims protected in the Middle East.

from this article i understand that the writer is trying to draw attention to the fact that muslims are beinh killed, oppressed all over the world and theres no saladdin in the world to protect them.
we must when referring to americans, that americans should be divided in to two categories fistly those who are leaders and those who are lead, those who are leading like any couintry in the world today are doing it out of self interest but those who are being lead have a more gratifying cause since they believe that they arwe serving the best interests of humanity. we must also realise that the american soldiers are not participating in the battle because the want to take part in a crusade but they also believe that their cause is just. like in any country the people will be manipulated because take for example pakistan, where to a certain degree terrorism is being allowed in the name of islam for the further nationalist interest of the elite with no regards to innocent people, now the hindu may say our religion is being attacked. we need to realise simply that as the motto goes "might is right" and although there is an elective dictatorship in america in place because people are not suffering unlike in iraq, so as a muslim we should commend the american soldiers because they are not doing it for self interest as well as they are willing to make a sacrifice although the government does not represent the principle ideals for the time being to the soldiers they do it for the ideals. therefore we must understand that a lesser evil is a better option. as for the taliban and saddam they were punished for their ignorance. one of the most precious ideals of the the koran i feel to be patience as the prophet (pbuh) said "patience is virtue" i believe that it is a test from allah and that indeed the message from allh is the more you turn to evil such as participating or even accepting the deaths of innocent the more ignorant we,there for invoking allahs anger.

Iraqi's didn't love the dictator who used to run their country. The motivations of the US have been stated over and over and the actions being taken support those statements.

The truth will come out after this is over. The question to ask then will be "are Iraqis better off after the US freed them, or were they better off under the dictator?"

Of course, you will probably have another set of inflamatory remarks and conspiracy theories even when Iraqis are living better lives in freedom and without fear.

This is an inflammatory, inaccurate, biased report. Is Afghanistan better or worse off since the religious zealots masquerading as Muslims were driven our with the assistance of the U.S. military? The U.S. has a much better concept of freedom than most of the world, including Hussein and his cronies. What Saddam did to his people, fellow-Muslims among the Kurds and Shiites, is criminal. And what did other Muslim countries do? Nothing. The U.S. will remove the tyrant from Baghdad and then assist in setting up a government by the Iraqi people for the Iraqi people. Don't believe it? Look at Japan and Germany to-day. There the people govern themselves in democracies following wars with the U.S. In the absence of any positive moves by any other countries or peoples, what the U.S. has done is for the best. Iraq will soon be a much freer country with its citizens enjoying the benefits of its wealth rather than one man and his family stealing from his people. God bless the U.S.A. and freedom seekers everywhere.

While I do not believe this is a war against Islam, it certainly seems to be a war against Muslims. I had a lot of sympathy for US. But the post-Sept11 US policies have been very humiliating for Muslims, for eg. US support for the humiliation of Arafat and Palestinians by Sharon, statements and policies of this govt (the Hajj terror warnings, this drive to attack Iraq especially after the US got its pound of flesh in Afghanistan etc.). When all the other side needs are boxcutters and a zeal to die for their cause, perhaps it would not be a bad idea for the US to examine the causes of Muslim rage. Though I find fundamentalism idiotic and distasteful, after this attack on Iraq, I am beginning to think that the Osamas of this world do have a role to play in the current situation: they are needed to give US and Israel the ass-kicking they deserve. I have lost all hope in the US pursuing a just policy in the Mideast. Maybe its not such a bad idea after all for the Muslims of this world to launch their own Operation Infinite Justice against the US and Israel.

Your article describes the feelings of outrage and helplessness. I agree that the root cause(s) include our own selfishness, hypocrisy, narrowminedness, and lack of basic moral and ethical principles. We must remind ourselves of the brutal Iran-Iraq war and the support Saddam enjoyed from the entire spectrum of Arab nations because he was 'protecting them from shiite Iran'

I told a friend of mine about this american move in the middle east just a week ago. The small rich zionist movement has allied itself with the large most influential culture in the world which is america and some of europe to crush or, to be nice, to dominate the muslim world. throughout history, zionists have used money and sex/women-their own women- to get what they need. Remember, money means power within a worldly context. zionists have infiltrated the strongest empire now just as they did the roman one to conspire against Jesus! To me some of the jews called zionists are the "qaoum maghdoobialaihum" in surat fatiha, and christians are "dalloon"i.e. the misguided ones. and zioinists know that christians are "daloon" and are taking advantage of them to put christians against muslims, while they stay behind and watch. their target today is iraq, tomorrow it's iran and after it's syria. watch! the other arab countries are bought by us dollars financed by zionists money.some of those contries are morocco, egypt, tunisia, jordan etc where corruption(money),prostitution(women) are rampant! The brothers are killing each other & zionists are watching. the same pattern is happening in the black and hispanic communities in usa or outside of it. i have brushed on a few things because of space limits. It is our "amana" to let people of all faiths know the Truth manifested in the Quran which is the Truth. so, please read The Truth and give back the amana to the others, for we shall be held accountable for it in the last day. Even after saddam is gone and the fake peace is back, there will be no real peace on earth until The Quran/Truth is applied. assalamualaikum.

HOW the saude prostitutes and boy toy king of jordan and the shameless, disgracefull bastards of turkey and so on can even look at themselves in the mirror is beyond me, for a few blood soaked american dollar they have soled their very worthless, rotten hell bound souls, i used to think "why do muslims talk so much about a hell, if God is compassionate why even create a hell" NOW i know who exactly it was made for.

Question
Who's to Blame for Muslim defeatism?

Today the defenders of Islam and the civil rights of American Muslims in the United States and Europe are Non-Muslims. Tragically, the world only sees the activism of Muslim extremists and hijackers of the faith, like Bin Laden, and many misguided Imams who feel that by force and violence alone Islam will achieve victory over its "enemies".
Answer:
Why did Muslims and the West all over the world cheer Bin Laden and the Afgha Mujahideen when they defeated the Soviets. They have become misguided only when they turn their direction to wards you. So hypocritical!!!

Dr. Khodr makes some good points, and some that are really counterproductive. Everyone who has access to television and the news knows that the Bush "team" has wanted to attack Iraq for a very long time. Americans who have historically been very reluctant to allow their politicians to wage war have been won over not by some Zionist persuasion, but by the great fear generated by the attack of 9/11. What I truly have a hard time understanding is how for so many years there was no jihad to free the Iraqi people of a man who has slaughtered more than a million of his own people, and heaven knows how many of his Muslim neighbors. Saddam Hussein has killed more Muslims that anyone in history. Now someone wants to rid the earth of this man, and we all complain. I have been very outspoken in my criticism of Bush and his advisors. Much more should have been done to try for a peaceful solution, but in all honesty, I find it hard to believe that Saddam would have given up the terrible weapons he has without some form of force being used. Muslims do need to get together to rid themselves of all the oppressive regimes that are the breeding ground for terrorism. I think that there would be much support for this among the 7 million Muslims in America. I also believe that Americans of all faiths would help in far greater numbers if Muslims here and around the world stopped trying to kill us, and the "death to Americans" signs were put away. At the very least it would make it much more difficult for hawks to convince the public to go along with any more wars like the one which is coming. It is no more the fault of America that tyrants rule the Arab world then it is for the wealthy Arabs who support these regimes. Forget the governments and the nonsense that most of them try to sell. Appeal to the people, offer your hand in friendship and it will be accepted.

The Muslims on the other hand are weak and demoralized; they have become negligent and lazy, the victims of unproductive stupefaction and completely lacking in enthusiasm. If, Allah forbid, Islam should draw rein, obscure her splendour, blunt her sword, there would be no one, east or west, far or near who would blaze the zeal for Allah's Religion, or choose to come to the aid of truth against error. This is the moment to cast off laziness, to summon from far and near all those who have blood in theirs veins; but we are confident, thanks to Allah - Alhamdulillah - in the Help that will come from Him and entrust ourselves to him in sincerity of purpose and deepest devotion.

Insha'Allah, the disbelievers shall perish and the faithful have a sure deliverance.

A Message To The Ummah of Muhammad (SAAS)
From
Salahuddin Ayyubi - The Liberator of Jerusalem

We hope in Allah Most High, to Whom be Praise, Who leads the hearts of Muslims to calm what torments them and ruins their prosperity.

Where is the sense of honor of the Muslims? The pride of the Believers? The Zeal of the Faithful?

We shall never cease to be amazed at how the disbelievers for their part have shown trusts, and it is the Muslims who have been lacking in zeal. Not one of them has responded to the call. Not one intervenes to straighten what is distorted; but observe how far the Franks have gone. What unity they have achieved. What aims they persue. What help they have given. What sums of money they have borrowed and spent. What wealth they have collected and distributed and divided amongst them. There is not a King left in their lands or islands, not a lord or a rich man who has not competed with his neighbors to produce more support and rival his peers in strenuous military efforts. In defense of their religion they consider it a small thing to spend life and soul; and they have kept their infidel brothers supplied with arms and champions of war; and all they have done and all their generosity has been purely out of zeal for him they worship in jealous defense of their faith.

May Allah reward Dr. Mohamed Khodr and all those who feel pain for their brother Muslims . I remember having read a hadith where Prophet Muhammad ( Peace be upon him) said, there would always be a group of people who would be on the right and say the truth.

With brother Khodr permission, I would suggest to reduce this article to one page in small paragraphs and let's circulate this to all Muslims, to all our friends. This will be a form of Jihad too, perhaps this starts wakening up the Muslims from their shameful deep slumber and once it happens, Allah will rid them of their reckless tyrant rulers and give them victory without even fighting. You just have to be together, feel each others pain, love/ help each other, stop tribalism, and attain knowledge.

I would like very much to be part of this group.

Last night I shed tears after hearing Bush's ultimatum and prayed for the poor children and people of Iraq. The Arabs in middle east have really disgraced the muslims. The Arabs have an Arab League, OPEC Islamic organizations but how come they don't have miltary to protect their region. This was the best time for the arabs/muslims to have stood together and supported their follow brother but instead they just put a pathetic show. All I can say is shame on the Arabs especially they ones who have allowed the kaffirs to use their land to attack their fellow muslim/arab brothers and sisters. May Allah make them suffer. It just proves that American lives are more valuable than the lives of the people of Iraq. We definately should be ashamed of ourselves as muslims we have failed.

I dont have words to write, my heart cries of the pain which is not imaginable, how am i related to people of iraq, but yes i'm, they are brothers and sisters of islam.
I can see you pointing on the defeat of muslims because of their imaan and akhida, na-ausbillah, what is happening to the ummah of Rasool Allah Sallelaahu Alaihiwasallam, where are these people leading to ? who is guiding them ? who will help them ? when will they get help ? how will that help be ?
Subhan Allah, none other than Allah, so bow thy heart, spread your hands and pray to ALLAH, for all the ummah of Prophet Muhammed (sallelahu alaihi wasallam).
I used to curse, who would give pains muslims, but i have come for a better solution than that, that is to pray to allah for them, may allah guide everyone in this world, no matter they come from which corner of the world, no matter they belong to which tribe, they follow what ever religion, guide us.

First of all God knows best what sis happening and why, but we all have to keep in mind from a muslim perspective where this is coming from and where and why this is happening. First off it says in hadeeth that the muslims will be powerless over our enemies and not because we will be low in number but because we will love the entertainment of this life and the fear of death. It is also said there will be blood on the door of every arab...namely after this invasion and subsequent ones afterwards then after allof the bllod will we finall realise that maybe we should wake up. Look at us in the states and how we practice...on fridays and eid.....and thinking that this government is home to us, and that our governments overseas are acceptable...thinking that our well intended man made systems are better than a system that was given by God. Sharia is the only way, with no nationals...no countries...no saudi no palestine no kuwait......just muslim bros and sisters willing to stand up for whats right rather than sitting around divided and beinbg played. But whats happening is happening for a reason....and if the fundamental jews and christians are trying to bring on the armageddon than so be it...and will there be blood shed on the muslims? Yes until we realise that we should stand up for our deen instead of getting walked on like we are now...only time will tell

Assalaamo Alaikum,

I feel the same helplessness and sadness as you. It is not just a war. It is a massacre of innocent children, women and elderly. For we all know, majority of Iraq's population consists of children and elderly. I am ashamed by my helplessness. I pray for them. I hope Allah subhanahu taala would help them and not abandon them like the other muslim worlds have done.
We have to do something to help them. We have to unite together as muslims and not as indians and pakistanis and arabs. It is now or never. Either we stand together in the name of Allah and his prophet Muhammed (pbuh) and protect innocent lives or we fight and kill each other and let the world laugh on our helplessness and selfishness.

For the past several months I have been telling my friends that the present American adminstration in Washington, has been hijacked by the Zionist group.

I was a student in Unietd States 20 years ago. The United States then was different from theUnited States of today - it was democratic, had great respect for human rights - everything that made us adore the great republic. Today I think democracy, the rule of law, government transparecy are dead in United States.
For thousand of years, the jews have been the black sheep of the children of Abraham. Its so sad to hear in the Quraan God's lamentation
"Ya bani Israel......"

With the present crisis in Iraq, I think it will settle down after several dacade. Every millinium produces a leader who is bent on territorial conquest and plundering. In the 19th century, it was Napoleon, and lat century, it was Adolf Hitler. In the 21st century, we have George Bush. France and Germany today are much respected nations. Lets hope that one day United Staes too will become a respected nation again.

Thank you.
