Iraqi Army Takes ‘Full Control’ of Kirkuk

Government forces in Iraq have taken full control of the contested city of Kirkuk without any opposition from Kurdish fighters who had controlled it. A major advance on Kurdish-held territories came amid tensions that have been mounting in the oil-rich region since Kurds held a referendum on secession.
