UN Peacekeeping Matters: An Interview with Outgoing UN Military Adviser


The outgoing Military Adviser for United Nations Peace Operations, General Birame Diop, in a brief interview at UNHQ, spoke about the importance of UN Peacekeeping.

The Senegalese General was appointed as the UN's Military Adviser in May 2021, bringing with him more than 30 years of military experience including as the Chief of Defence Staff of Senegal’s Armed Forces.

He previously held the position of National Security Adviser to the President of Senegal and of Air Force Chief of Staff. He served as Deputy Chief of Air Operations with the United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUC) from 2002 to 2003 and has a distinguished career in the Senegalese Armed Forces.
